Step into a celebration of young artistry. The Erie Niagara Competition is designed to inspire, support, and elevate young musicians ages 5–19 in a warm, nurturing environment rooted in excellence and reflection.

Who Can Apply

• Solo Instruments (Piano, Strings, Winds, etc.)
• Voice (Classical or Contemporary)
• Chamber Music
• Composition
• Creative Performance / Improvisation

Age Categories

• 5–8 years
• 9–12 years
• 13–15 years
• 16–19 years

Repertoire Guidelines

Participants must prepare two contrasting works that demonstrate a range of musical and technical skills. Memorization is encouraged but not required. Selections should be appropriate to the participant’s age and ability level.

Composition Guidelines

Composers may submit one original work (solo, chamber, or vocal). Works must be under 7 minutes in length. Scores should be submitted in PDF format and may include a MIDI or live performance recording (optional). Compositions will be evaluated based on originality, structure, and musical expression.

Evaluation & Recognition

All participants receive professional written feedback from 2–3 professional adjudicators. Emphasis is placed on musical expression, technical ability, and stage presence.

• 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Prizes awarded per category and per age group
• Special Awards (e.g. Young Talent Award, Best Modern Interpretation)
• Winners invited to perform at the Winners’ Gala Concert

Each age group will award the following prizes in every competition category:

  2nd Prize – Medal + Certificate + $15 Gift Card
  3rd Prize – Medal + Certificate
• 9–12 years:
  1st Prize – Trophy + Certificate + $40 Gift Card
  2nd Prize – Medal + Certificate + $20 Gift Card
  3rd Prize – Medal + Certificate
• 13–15 years:
  1st Prize – Trophy + Certificate + $50 Gift Card
  2nd Prize – Medal + Certificate + $25 Gift Card
  3rd Prize – Medal + Certificate
• 16–19 years:
  1st Prize – Trophy + Certificate + $75 Gift Card
  2nd Prize – Medal + Certificate + $35 Gift Card

Participation Fee: $25 per category
Fee Waivers: Available upon request for students with demonstrated financial need
